Yet, whilst the high international standards of this prestigious hotel company are now in place, the original get-away-from-it-all ambience of Caneel Bay vacations still very much remains intact. Caneel Bay vacations resort sits on a peninsula flanked by seven beaches and surrounded by the undulating greenery of the Virgin Islands National Park. Unsurprisingly the recreational activities available on Caneel Bay vacations are tailored to this back-to-nature setting and include snorkeling, windsurfing and scuba-diving. The furniture was given a makeover in the early nineties (it is now Indonesian wicker); as of last year there is a Wellness Center; and, finally, there is now air conditioning at the Caneel Bay vacations resort. But much of Caneel Bay vacations atmosphere is still bare bones -there are no telephones or televisions but the blanket-sized towels and fantastic mango shampoo more than make up for it.
